Writing on the wall
The religious history of the Kurds seems to be as similar, and as complex, as that of their Middle Eastern counterparts. Like some of the people who now occupy the Arabian peninsula, the Kurds belonged to a few ancients faiths before converting to Judaism and Christianity. By or after 7th Century, the majority of the Kurds were Islamised.

Currently, the majority of the Kurds are Sunni Muslims. The province of Iraqi Kurdistan is now ruled by the Kurdistan Regional Government.
