Trouble at the Pergammon
Photos and words by Salina Christmas

Long before we have telly, the ancient Greeks would go to the local temple to entertain themselves by looking at fantastic scenes re-enacted on the walls of the holy place.

The Great Altar of Pergammon was a gift from the Ottoman Empire to the Germans. It came from a temple in the Turkish town of Bergama ("Pergammon"). Yes, before Islam, the Turks were Byzantines.

They were very imaginative.

You can see this piece of action at the Pergammon Museum in Berlin.
