Istanbul: Sufism
Photos & Words: Salina Christmas

This particular rite took place at the waiting room of Sirkeçi Train Station. There is another venue; a former Turkish bath.

Some of the tourists I spoke to found this shocking. Well, have you heard of a hymn performed in a spa or public lavatory? Precisely.

Still, this 'performance' attracts so many tourists who are curious to see what it's about.

I hope these fraternities will have enough funding to be able to perform at a proper hall one day. It's too good for a waiting room.
