Istanbul: A Spice Odyssey
Photos & Words: Salina Christmas

The Egyptian Bazaar located opposite the four-century old "New Mosque" at Eminönü, to the west of the Sultanahmet area, is less of a tourist trap compared with the Grand Bazaar.

To get here, you can either take an overland tram to Eminönü, or if you are staying in and around Sultanahmet, walk for a good ten minutes.

A journey by public transport from Taksim Square in Beyoglu to this area takes about 20 to 30 minutes and costs between YTL2.80 and TYL4.00 each way.

A similar journey by taxi costs about YTL20.
