Istanbul: Eating Out
Photos & Words: Salina Christmas

I had coffee at Starbuck here only once. The coffee wasn't different from the ones you get in London, the carrot cake too dry and stodgy — I went there not because I like it.

It was 'better the devil you know'.

"Why go to Starbucks when you have better, cheaper coffee, and you get a better reception at the local cafe?" One of the shop assistants near the Grand Bazaar said to me.

We got talking because of his interest in my Nikon, and because he saw me taking this photo.

Skip Starbucks altogether here. Be adventurous. Support the local cafes.
