Stand and Stare: Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008
Words by Salina Christmas

A fellow photographer marvelling at Fredrik Ehrenstrom's Celebration lilly, a runner-up in the 'In praise of plants' category.

I wish to see more of the horticultural numbers in the future. But overall, the entries are amazing.

Steve Winter is right: it's the best job in the world being a photographer. You get to document what you really love, and you can share your point of view with the rest of the world.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine. We can only run the winning photos until October 2009
