Stand
and Stare: Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008
Words by Salina Christmas
An entry on snow leopard, taken by a National Geographic
photographer, won this year's competition.
"Snow leopard - again?" was the reaction
I got from fellow photographers and cameramen.
Well, given that the snow leopard
is rare, and that it took Steve Winter six months,14
remote-controlled cameras and some 45 locations all over
India's Hemis High Altitude National Park to capture
the subject, he deserved to win.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine
