World Summit: Ama Dablam
Photos and words by Richard Bull

Ama Dablam as seen from the north in the Everest region of Nepal. It is not so high at 6812m but Edmund Hillary once described it as unclimbable. It was first summitted in 1961 along the SW ridge that runs from the summit down to the right in the picture.

It is not so difficult and a very beautiful peak and so attracts a lot of hobby climbers. Luckily spaces for camping are physically limited so the route is never too busy. My friend was a climbing guide and was organising a trip here. "Do you want to come?" - "Let me think about it, yes."

Richard Bull reported on Palestinian child guerrilas on Edition 19.
