Desert Rose
Photos and words by Zarina Holmes

But at what cost?
The important lesson learned from Almeria desert is that unsustainable farming
for mass production can only generate short term profitability.

In less than three decades, the Spanish government had to resort to more environmentally friendly water-saving technologies. Recently, it's reported that the region is seeing some green areas increasing.

It's a good beginning but there is still plenty to be done.
