The main causes of soil degradation in Andalusia olive groves are hydric erosion (rain); cultivation excess and scarce contribution of organic matter to the soil; and the use of chemical plaguicides and fertilizers.

There are hundreds of acres of traditional olive groves like this, which produce far more yields than ecological farms.
