Desert Rose
Photos and words by Zarina Holmes

Owner Rafael Alonso, with his father Alonso Sr., pioneered a high tech method of producing quality olive oil in corporation with Almeria University. It adheres strictly to ecological standard. "It seemed like a crazy idea when we started this as it isn't conventional, but it works."

27-year old Alonso was an environmental engineering graduate before turning to agriculture. It's a relief to see how the younger generation are taking this issue to heart.

The 'crazy' idea bagged Oro del Desierto 18 awards in Sustainability and established its reputation as a premium olive oil brand.
