Photos and words by Salina Christmas
Shortly after I returned to London in September 2007, the opposition had a massive victory.
The ruling political parties won by a narrow margin. Many key states such as Selangor, near where Kuala Lumpur is located, and Penang, went to the opposition.
On 26th August 2008, Anwar Ibrahim,
the opposition leader, won by a huge margin in a by-election
in Penang. The ones who went out in full force to ensure the
victory were mainly people of my generation. The Generation
X-ers who were students and young workers in the Nineties.
It made me feel very proud to be a part of this generation.
We're not even in our 40s.
The story is far from over, however.
The hard work has only just begun.
