Writers' Bloc: Galle Literary Festival 2008
By Soharni and Deshan Tennekoon

Harper's Bazaar UK hailed it the 'No.1 literary festival in the world' at its debut in 2007. No pressure then for its second year running. This year's theme? Climate Change.

Traveller's Tales. L-R: Brian Keenan (author of An Evil Cradling), Tim Severin (film-maker and author) and William Dalrymple (author of City of Djinns and moderator) Tim Severin sees Brian Keenan's account of being abducted by Islamic Jihad and held hostage in Beirut with a narrative of how he sailed the Pacific on a bamboo raft to test the theory that ancient Chinese mariners could have travelled to the Americas.
