Here lies John Bunyan, writer of Pilgrim Progress, and philosopher.

Bunhill Fields was probably originally called Bone Hill. Located near Moorgate, north of the Square Mile, it has been a burial site for over 1,000 years. It was closed in 1854. It was estimated that 123,000 people had been buried here.

The Public Records Office only lists burials that took place between 1713 and 1854.

It was noon, but very cloudy, when I took this photo.
