Kingdom of Bhutan:
The Land of Thunder Dragon
Photos by Sylvain Dhennin
In this land, seated amongst the
peaks of the Himalaya, hunting animals or fishing is illegal. Houses
are painted with mystical symbols and monks in maroon robes roam everywhere.
It could be what
Tibet would have been, a land where the Lamas are at par
with the monarch, had China not intervene.
The King of Bhutan was famously quoted in the Financial
Times as saying: "Gross
National Happiness is more important than Gross Domestic Product."
Sylvain Dhennin trained as a lawyer. When not exploring the world,
he is a City banker.
