Organic food has gone mainstream in a big way. Even the politicians are listening.
In 2005, 20 EU regions signed a charter to become GMO (genetically modified organism)-free.

In June, the European Parliament's Environment Committee proposed a 25% reduction of pesticide use within five years, and a further 50% cut in ten years.

The Basque region of Spain recently declared itself free of genetically modified crops. The region is creating a legal framework which favours conventional and organic farming.****
