"The bright café on the second floor is an ideal West End coffee hangout."
The Photographer's Gallery, Ramillies Street, London W1

“London has been crying out for a place like this to rival those in New York and Paris,” said David Bailey.

The Photographer’s Gallery new venue at Ramillies Street is now the largest public gallery in London dedicated to photography.

Located minutes away off Oxford Street, it offers more space and possess international flair compared to its former setting near Leicester Square.

The gallery is a must-see for visitors to London.

It consists of four exhibition floors. I certainly enjoyed taking my time around the new space.

The bright café on the second floor is an ideal West End coffee hangout.

The atmosphere is peaceful, warmed by colourful exhibits on the walls and multimedia terminals.

The café also shares the same floor as the bookstore.

Every Friday at 13.00 the gallery holds free lunchtime talk "My Favourite Photograph". Visitors can join the free Exhibition Tour, led by a chosen art historian or curator, once every month.

There are also talks given by exhibiting artists.

The main exhibition is held on the third floor. The Print Sales room on the fourth floor offers original prints for photography collectors.

The collections are carefully curated and easy to appreciate, although the curators probably have plenty to learn from Parisian photo galleries which are less apologetic and display generously.

Still, it is definitely worth a monthly visit.
