Finally, cyclists will have more options than tight Lycras and neon-green builder vests on the road.
We can now pedal in style in Sustran’s Chopper T-Shirt collection for adults and children.
Sustrans, UK’s leading sustainable transport charity has launched an online shop selling a range of clothing and accessories.
“We realized that cycling clothing can sometimes seem a bit serious, with all that Lycra, so we decided to break the mould and design a fashionable new collection of T-shirts which had a funky retro-style,” said Sustrans spokesperson.
The T-shirt collection was launched to celebrate Sustrans' 30th anniversary in 2007.
All the proposed designs were so impressive the Sustrans found it hard to select a winner.
So the charity asked fashion-savvy readers of Bristol based magazine, Venue, to vote for their favourite design from four options.
The winner was a T-shirt design based on the classic 70's Chopper bike with Sustrans slogan "Join the Movement". It had the most votes was produced and selected to be sold in the shop.
All voters were entered into a prize draw to win a VIP cycling break.
Other cool slogan T-shirts are “You're free range too” and our favourite, “Space Invaders”, inspired by the classic video game.
Bristol-based Ryan Nicolson, who is an expert in silk-screen printing and graphic design, designed all the T-shirts.
Nicolson used only ethically sourced materials such bamboo-mixed cloths and non-toxic paints for Sustrans collection.
The online shop also sells a comprehensive selection of the very best cycle maps and guides from National Cycle Network, family cycling to touring and mountain biking.
Casual cycling apparel is probably the most overlooked sportswear by fashion designers compared to any other sports.
Sustrans is responsible for linking the UK with National Cycle Network and promoting cycling and walking as healthy forms of transport.
